It started out as a dare to myself.
Everywhere I looked — TikTok, Instagram, health blogs — people were swearing by one green drink: celery juice. They said it could do everything from detox your body to clear your skin to heal digestion problems no doctor could fix.
I’ll be honest… I didn’t really buy into the hype. But I wanted to find out for myself. So I committed: 16 ounces of fresh celery juice every morning for 30 days.
What I discovered shocked me — both in good ways and in ways nobody mentioned.
Day 1-7: The What Have I Gotten Myself Into? Phase
Mornings started with a trip to the juicer. Half a bunch of celery, sometimes a full one, depending on how much liquid it produced. It was salty, grassy, and a bit bitter. Not exactly my idea of a “morning latte.”
By Day 3, something unexpected: my digestion sped up. Not in a bad way — just… more regular. Celery is packed with water and fiber (though juicing removes most fiber), and it seems the natural sodium + plant compounds woke my gut up fast.
But I also felt bloated — especially the first 5 days. Research suggests this is common when the gut adjusts to a sudden influx of polyphenols and natural salts.

Day 8-14: Energy Shifts and Clearer Skin?
Around the second week, I noticed two things:
- Energy — instead of reaching for coffee, I felt naturally awake. Celery juice is basically electrolytes in a glass, loaded with sodium, potassium, and antioxidants. Studies show hydration and minerals like potassium reduce fatigue.
- Skin changes — by Day 12, my complexion looked brighter, and a few stubborn breakouts cleared faster than usual. Celery has high levels of vitamin K and C, both linked to skin health. Was it placebo? Maybe. But the mirror didn’t lie.
Day 15-21: Cravings and Mindset Shifts
By the third week, my taste buds adjusted. The juice wasn’t gross anymore. I even craved it.
One morning I swapped it for coffee first — and felt jittery, then crashed. That’s when I realized celery juice had replaced caffeine as my “morning reset button.”
Science says this could be due to celery’s low glycemic load + minerals stabilizing blood sugar and cortisol.
Day 22-30: The Real Test
Week 4 was the clincher.
- Bloating dropped noticeably. My stomach looked flatter, especially in the mornings.
- Digestion improved. No more irregularity, less reflux. (Celery’s pH can neutralize stomach acid for some people.)
- Mental clarity. Harder to quantify, but it’s like I had fewer “foggy” mornings.
Did it cure every health problem? Of course not. Did I feel different after 30 days? Absolutely.
What Science Really Says About Celery Juice
Here’s the truth — there isn’t much direct research on celery juice as a miracle cure. Most of the benefits come from:
- Hydration + electrolytes: Celery is 95% water and rich in sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
- Antioxidants: Compounds like apigenin and luteolin reduce inflammation.
- Digestive support: Celery contains pectin-based polysaccharides shown to help protect the stomach lining in animal studies.
- Blood pressure benefits: Potassium + phthalides in celery can help relax artery walls (Cleveland Clinic).
So yes — celery juice helps, but probably not for all the reasons influencers claim.
The Verdict: Should You Try It?
After 30 days, here’s my honest take:
- The Good: Better hydration, improved digestion, clearer skin, more stable energy.
- The Meh: The hype about “detox” isn’t backed by science. Your liver and kidneys already detox your body.
- The Challenge: Time-consuming juicing, and store-bought versions don’t have the same live enzymes.
Would I keep drinking it?
Yes — but not religiously every day. For me, celery juice is now in my rotation as a reset ritual.
If you’re curious — try it for 7 days. Notice how your body reacts. Don’t expect miracles. But don’t be surprised if you feel fresher than you thought you would.
